Title: Moving a camellia
Post by: Joe11 on April 08, 2008, 18:33:01
Hi, we have a large camellia, but would like to move it out of the way, do you think it would survive being moved? And if so do you have any tips to give it the best chance of surviving??

Thanks
Joe

Has it flowered yet?

If not I would wait till flowering is finished.

There is a bit of info here;

Its flowering at the moment. So you think it would be best to do now, or in the autumn?? We'll do it when ever its the best chance of it surviving as there is no rush

Best time to move or divide anything is when it is dormant :)

Ive moved mine three times over the past few years and never had a problem, just make sure you dig very deep and get the whole of the root ball, but yes I would now be inclined to wait for it to flower as you dont want to miss the chance of losing those beautiful blooms.
