Manics what is the white stuff round them?  Mine are about the same stage but I am having to cover them with paper at night against frost.

they've been earthed up 3 times, next comes grass cuttings, soon as I can get my hands on some, must talk to the neighbours, make sure they're not using weed 'n' feed on their lawn  ;D

I suppose there is a fair bit of insulation in that.  Do you leave it there and dig it in when the potatoes are dug up? 

Hadn't thought of that.  I will take some home with me tonight from work and try it - I think as it is just fabulous today that we will probably get another frost tonight.

yes, with the grass, then, after the potatoes, I'll be planting melons so the soil will be enriched  ;D
