Came home from 2 week holiday at 8pm on Saturday after long drive to find we'd been broken into. Not much was taken and most of it is replaceable except they found two items of my recently deceased Mother's jewellery which she sent to me not long before she died. Her engagement ring and a very unique antique pendant. These were the only things I had of hers and also the only gold jewellery in the house as i can't wear gold. All my silver jewellery was found and tossed aside in disgust.
The house was well secured with window locks but one of these had just been sheered off and the window forced. The side gate was locked and the neighbour had the key so he had to climb over the gate/fence to get in or out. So only small items were taken the biggest being a Wii console. The police think it was done during the day which means he was very daring as because our fence blew down and was replaced all the plants that screened two of the neighbours views of our garden and back of our house were gone so he was full view of 3 other houses.
Sorry to hear your news :(
Hope they catch the ba**ards and string them up >:(
Chin up
Debbie
what an awful thing for you to return to . i do sympathise, its a terrible thing. unfortunately the thieving barstewards will have no idea what that jewellary meant to you. i'm really sorry and hope it hasnt shaken you up too much.
We came back to a burglary one Christmas and the B*******ds had tipped out the Freezer looking for the Turkey etc which we hadn't got and left about 40lbs of variuos fruits eg Rasps and Brambles to defrost all over the settees!¬
Made a lot of Jam that year!!
;D
Hope they catch them, but I wouldn't hold your breath!
>:(
Not likely apparently he's done a lot in our area but over a wide area not just the one town and is a professional knows exactly how to break the window locks quickly, hardly any damage visible on the outside. So much for having locks on the windows. The whole window frame will probably have to be replaced as part of it is split on the inside.
oh god Kea i am so sorry to hear that i think they should be shot!!!
Have the police got a description?
Yesterday i was having a meeting in notting hill gate in a little cafe and there was a guy there eating some soup, his coat was foulded on the char in front of him. Someone came out of the toilet and droped some change i looked and saw nothing but the guy bending over and picking the stuff up. 2 seconds later gone a perfectly usual occurance. The guy eating the soup checked his coat being a little paranoid i though only to announce that he had just had his coat pocket emptyed!! I was looking right at his and did not see it!!
Lucky for this guy only a diary was nicked and some paperwork his wallet was in his jeans.
Worth checking in your local pawn shops, Kea, to make sure they haven't tried to offload your stuff for immediate cash? Even if it's not there, it's worth giving descriptions to the manager/staff, in case any turns up. I know these shops don't exactly have morals tied to them but I do believe some kind of ID or proof needs to be shown if someone wants to sell something to them?
How horrible for you. :(
This happened to us about 14 years ago. OH and I came in one December evening from picking up our daughter from the childminder's to find the front door yale lock snecked down, so we couldn't get in. OH went round the back - patio doors had been forced and they had locked the dog into the kitchen. They didn't really get a huge amount - basically the policeman who came to the house said they would have only been in about 3 minutes, and took what they could carry. But like you, I lost some irreplaceable items of jewellery, that had sentimental value more than anything else. We did consider ourselves fortunate that they hadn't harmed our dog.
Ironically it happened on my first day of jury duty. I went in the next day and told the bailiff not to put me on any juries that were trying burglars. She smiled sympathetically and said that if they had to weed out all jurors who had been victims of crime, there wouldn't be many left.
Oh Kea, thats just awful.
Its all been said..................you have my sympathies. Its always worse when irreplaceable items get stolen, its a good idea to check pawn shops.
(((((Hugs)))) to you :-*
Kea, I am so sorry to hear your rotton news.... its amazing just how daring these ghastly parasites can be!!! I really do hope they manage to catch up with him, and of course more than anything hopefully your stolen items are found!! This sort of thing makes my blood boil... they are callous low life's who have no regard for people or their possesions!! Need to give them a good days digging to do and preferably the most awful weed ridden allotment that is known to man.... no rest breaks and no stopping to dress the inevitable blisters.. let the little b**t**d suffer a lot!!

You'll probably find the gold was traded for crack within an hour.
Its the need for drugs that makes them so daring.
How sad to hear about things after returning from ones holiday, I do sympathize with you most sincerely, But if and when they catch the b*******ds, I hope the punishment would reflect your pain, a good twenty lashes, North Korean style would fit the bill.
Vony.
Unfortunately this one is a professional and picked stuff very carefully. I doubt he will sell locally but I have been to my local auction rooms to give them a description but they said it was unlikely it would be bought to them.
Thanks for all your kind support.
He may be in trouble while searching through my stuff he tossed aside my Maori carved bone pendant of a Taniwha that has been blessed by Maori Elders from Canterbury specifically for protection of my family.

I'm sorry to hear about your break in. I've been the victim of theft before and for me I class thieves just under phedos, murderers and rapists. May sound a little harsh but I do, I think they are scum that can ruin people without a second thought.
As much as I hope you do manage to recover the sentimental items I'll leave you with something I heard right from the mouth of a car thief I overheard last week.
He was in court for stealing a Mercedies, joy riding it before smashing it up and burning it. What was his punishment?
Well he escaped 6 months in jail because it would mean he would not be able to finish his college course so they gave him 16 hours community service instead, which he was looking forward to doing as his cousin would be doing it at the same time so it would be "a good laugh again".
Keep an eye on e-bay too. I've had friends who've found their stolen property on there! Good luck...
Yes I've been looking at ebay.
The other bad thing was I was really looking forward to getting stuck into my allotment but as the window is now not completely secure someone has to be at home!!!
The window frame is split apart from the force used to lever open the locked window.
Kea,
Many moons ago my garage was broken into and all my power tools went missing fortunately in those days I had my nose to the ground and knew most people in the town, like your thieving sod he went over the top and in my case was caught with a hover mower under his arm at half past midnight on a Sunday night by security people that I knew, that was I needed and poetic justice was served by me and on top of that he served eighteen month in prison, :) :)
So sorry to hear this Kea
Happened to me, and I know how you are feeling.
Its the thought that someones been in your house too.
I hope that your mum's stuff turns up somewhere, cos that might give a lead also.
Look in antique shops, we have a couple here that sell jewelery too. Don't suppose you had photos of it?? or pics of mum with it on?
The last time it happened to me, it was our holiday let cottage, they forced the window latch as you say and must have been most disapointed when there was only furniture in there! They did however find all my new bedding I had bought for the new season. It had been well hidden in the airing cupboard, then the plumber needed to get in there and I turfted it out on a bed, they took everything that was in a new packet. I guess for resale. But I did find it funny that it was probably NOT what he was after!
