Does anyone have any experience of growing this herb? I have sown a few seeds, but the seedlings look very spindly, and not like a plant that's supposed to grow to over a metre tall. Is this normal? And how many plants would you advise to grow? The instructions that came with the seeds from Realseeds say that you only require a leaf or two in any dish.
Any info that anyone has on this plant would be very welcome - thanks.
hello greenstar, my wife who is south american calls coriander by that name!
Apparently in South Africa it is used like coriander, but is in fact a completely different plant.
Does she grow it by any chance David?
no she doesnt, she cant stand it ::).
The mother in law came over for the birth of our first and so i decided to take her for a curry (well what better introduction to England!). The various dishes were decorated with coriander leaf and it was her mother who told me it was quillquina - i just assumed it was their word for coriander. My wife calls coriander that, but as she doesnt eat it she probably also doesnt realise its a different plant.
Grew up in South Africa and never heard of it. I thought it was something more used in South America.
Maybe Casey Lee or Jitterbug or Marie59 might know or remember it from SA!!
Oops, meant to say South America not South Africa. I'm mixing up my continents.
No experience, but just sown my first few seeds (rather more than a couple!)
