I have been given a number of large pots. Are there any things you would recommend growing in pots rather than the soil.

I've converted to raising salad greens in pots because it stays so clean and is easier to pick. Eg. Mini-romaine planted closely in a large pot of compost/well rotted manure was incredibly productive. Also in the heat of summer it could be moved to partial shade so kept producing when those in the ground would have bolted to seed. Also it could be set on a picnic table out of Mr. Rabbit's reach.

Wonderful you got all those pots! You hit the garden lottery!

Depends on what size they are as to what they would be best suited
