Well I LOVED it, but WHY didn't Joe show us his plot, that seemed a waste. Otherwise I liked the format, new music etc.
.... forgot to say, we use the slug pellets Monty showed and they are FAB!
"ADVANCED SLUG KILLER"... http://www.organiccatalog.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1821
They are organic and they are brilliant!
We use those too, they really work :) :) :) :)
yeah i love the new look. and what a pain he didnt show us his plot.
Yes, might een start to look forward to GW again, less Monty and more Carol, Joe and New Lady who I think is grrrreat.
Actually learnt a couple of things as well, much improved.
RBT
I'm using those slug pellets for the first time. They seem good, and they claim not to harm other wildlife, I hope they are right. BTW I got them from a local garden centre at over £5, in Wilkos they are £3.85-ish. Fair old difference >:(
Thumbs up for the new look from me too, Joe IS a tease. But I gather we're going to see it bit by bit from the first day through the series to the finished article :)
I loved it, I actually learnt some things from it tonight. And gives comfort with what Monty is doing in the garden, its all I have done on the veg front lol. :D :D

Yes we buy them from Wilkinsons too, much better value! I was VERY anoyed about the way Joe didn't show us his plot, it really felt like a waste showing us this endless build up to how he found it (40 MINUTE JOURNEY!!! :o ) and I loved the 'shanty town' plot he didn't take on. Can you tell I'm not as keen on Joe!! I LOVE Carol though, she can do no wrong in my mind. ;D
Think GW's getting the right 'mix' at last. Being more of a veg gal, I did love those delphs tho :)
did anyone notice Monty planting those currants from pots? They've only been in them for 5 minutes, the way the compost fell off
Thought the program was ok.
Been using the slug pellets for a few years now and they're very good.
Can't stand Carol Klein - thought her "Grow Your Own" series was all spin and no substance.
And yes 45 minutes by bike/25minutes by car is a joke. If his name wasn't "Joe Swift BBC Gardener" he'd have to put up with what he could get the same as most other people. I'm still reserving judgement but from the clips I've seen he can afford to throw money at it - or perhaps the BBC can.
Really enjoyable. Thought the same thing as RB regarding the currants from the pots
Guess I wasn't sucessful enough to get on the cosmos trial :'(.
Joe teased us with not showing the plot (very clever), because they know you'll want to watch next week to find out.
Thought Carol was her typical self, all yap and squeels and not much to teach us ::). I blinked when she was *Doing the pond*and next thing she was back at Berryfields scrounging cuttings. :-\
I miss Geoff Hamilton G.W. days :'(
I think Monty Don compares very favorably to Geoff Hamilton, they're both down to earth gardeners who are most at home in the veg patch.
I quite like young Alice as well - she writes an interesting blog, especially if you can read between the lines.

And me! He was great but tonight did feel a little bit more like old times but with a new twist, I really do think the producers have listened to us by moving it away from Berryfields a bit, doing the allotment section (V. Trendy! Don't you know!) and we also had the garden bit using recycled odds and bits (VERY Geoff Hamilton)
I think Monty is a good down to earth presenter and especially considering he isn't horticulturally trained.
I also noticed all the soil falling off the currents. I wondered how many re-takes they had done.
Do you think Joe's bit last week and this family stuff is done to make him look like an average Joe.
Alys appeared to read her script quite well. I like her dog.
The was the best episode this year, for content and filming. I didnt like the suddenly loud music in the middle. A coulple of times I had to hit mute.
hi all
Blumin can't sleep - grrrrr.
I loved GW last night, very excited by all the things they have started doing for new season. The last few I watched were mainly about flower gardens and I had been getting bored with it, but the new allotment spot looks like it will be great!
Like others I thought the journey to the plot is a bit mad, he was chuntering on about it only being 25 mins by car! And i did wonder why he wouldn't show us his plot, perhaps it is waist high in nettles! Or maybe they want us only to see it after the GW team have been in and landscaped it. I suppose they will need a fairly secure site though, and maybe one that they will not draw attention from vandals.
I really enjoyed it, and it's a nice surprise to come on here and find most others did too!Not that we're hard to please or anything. ;D Might even make the effort to go on the GW message board and let them know.
Bah, bring back the original music!
I like the new look and the title music is 'growing' on me (pun intended) after not being sure at first.
I am pleasantly surprised to find most of you on A4all like the changes. Over on the BBC Gardening messageboard most people dont like the changes, particularly the music. Mind you they didnt like the previous music when it first started, but they soon got used to it so maybe it shows what a fickle lot they are over there.
I did think Joe was a bit picky though with his alllotment. What was wrong with the one with the shack? His kids would have loved it and he could've turned his design skills to improving it (or got a contractor to get rid of it). I know some people dont have much choice as to where to have their allotment and are forced to travel to get to it, but to choose to have a 40 - 45 minute (at best - this is London we are talking about), seems a bit odd to me. And then to not show it to us - what a spoilsport!!
Imagine cycling 45 minutes home after working on the plot! :o I think he might take the option of putting his bike on the train- he can afford it!
perhaps he didnt want to show it us yet as either he had loads of helpers doing the garden for him or it wasnt done at all,lol
