Title: Planting Onions
Post by: caseylee on April 03, 2008, 20:05:32
I started my onions off in newspaper pots, since then I have planted some in my raised beds at home, and have soem destained for the allotment.  Hoever I was a bit over eager and planted way to many.  I have lots of long pots that are fairly deep, can I plant some of my left over onions in there, so not to waste them.  I realise they may come out small but do you think it would work, and has anyone tried this before

if you plant them close together you can thin them out when they are the size of spring onions and eat them with salads leaving the rest to mature and bulb up I can see no reason why you cannot do this in pots tho never tried
