Hi I have got some grass cuttings under some wood... kind of compost pile really. I read on another link that grass cuttings can be used for pototoes which I have got in. Went a bit over the top with pototoes as I got too many but put in pots as well. I earthed up as I went along. Should I use fresh grass cuttings? Do I just leave on the top or dig in? This is the first time I have planted anything so Im not sure. Im such a newbie its unbelievable! Thanks for all the advise about the worms as well Ive not been able to reply for a few days. Just keep adding grass clippings on top of the soil...but do not put too much at the time..about 1 inch layer at the time is plenty.
Put too much and they start to compost = creating heat and you may damage your potatoes. Or even worst your thick pile of grass clipping turn into slimy mess and start creating ammonia!!
So like with everything else little and often is good..

In a dry season... the thatch of dry grass cuttings will keep in the moisture..
