Title: clubroot and compost heap
Post by: Bazial on April 02, 2008, 09:26:50
I have clubroot on part of my allotment ,so is it allright to put the leaves of my cabbages and other greens on the compost heap  as long as the roots are broken off and put in dustbin.

Yes,..it is allright,  but as you chop your cabbages leave a bit of stem with the roots to be distroyed..just to be on the safe side...you could also make a little fire and burn the roots...

...and put the ash into compost bin...no waste and the ash is good for your compost.. ;D

I read that plant materials suffering from soil-borne diseases such as clubroot  should not be added to a compost heap.

However,it did not stipulate what it meant by "plant materials"

If in doubt....leave it out.
