Someone posted this on another forum, so I've copied it here along with some of the replies.
A small fire's broken out in my spare bedroom. Apparently I'm supposed to phone 999 and ask for the fire brigade or something. I've had a look on google and there's not much advice on there.
Anyone got any ideas, only apparently you can't do anything these days without asking about it on an internet forum first.

Take a picture of it and post it on your facebook page...
I would wait for a few more replies before doing anything rash, like calling 999, someone might know the cure or something on here
depends what type of fire......general rule is not too worry about it too much though.......
I've heard you should 'fight fire with fire'. Start a fire in the main bedroom, and hopefully that should sort it.
You could've at least posted it on the fire brigade forum, plonker.
Check you have insurance, if not then I'd recommend buying some online before calling the fire brigade, otherwise you won't get a payout.
Ask the operator for the number for 999.
If I were you, I'd sell up and move out. Let the next owners worry about it.
Don't worry about it, these things tend to work themselves out, even up over the course of the year.
Most definately. Call the 999, if a woman answers, ask if she has any sisters.
Call some mates and ask them to bring some ale, sausages and a few spuds.
Oh, and a couple of them long handled pokey in sausage things would be handy.
And Lurpack!
I tried to help out...
