My onion patch after last weeks wind. The DIY G'House is still standing!

that looks like a familiar story,i'm thinking about digging everything up and making a rice paddy, might be the only thing worth growing this summer!! ;)
I've never grown them, so could be wrong, but I thought onions fall over when they are ready (? or is it nearly ready) for harvest.
Onions start to 'flop' rather than fall over when they're ready for taking up, but that's a few weeks away yet. Believe me, the pic above is due to gale force wind.
ah sorry Ken - that's a shame.
No problem. No panic either. There they are lying down and still swelling away. Some I took out to leave room for the others that are still in, but although they're down, they're certainly not out. I'll take them out and bring them in when they are bowled over good and proper but until they come out they'll stay in although some will be out on account of them not being in. Some along the edges are just hanging in, not really either in or out, but if there's another windy day they will certainly not stay in for long so chances are they'll be out for good unless I put 'em back in until it's time for them to come out when I'll bring them in. If you see what I mean.
My head's exploded with all that in and out business!
Makes hoeing a bit difficult? Or even lifting.
With us it just flattened the corn - & trashed a very expensive new Parrotia persica. = Tim
