Did you see carol klein showing you how to pollinate them and marking it with a peace of thread so you knew which one to take the seed from?

No, but it might be worth trying; I've never had seed off mine at all.

Yes she used the plastic end of a pen to take pollen from the flower.

You can see it on a black pen.

She rubbed it across the stigma stamen area of another flower and marked the plant with thread.

Hopefully then you can collect seed.

If it does not work blame carol not me. ;D ;D

So if you see seeds in a flower that means they will be viable? Is there such a thing as infertile seed in a hellebore?

Excuse my lack of knowledge.

I'll probably nip into the Bull Ring and get a rabbit's tail. There's no reason at all why it shouldn't work.

Spoke to Robert about this and he thinks as there is not many insects about
so early in the year there is a lack of pollination.

It's the only thing I can think of, and it's a common problem these days due to the decline in bees and natural pollinators. Bees will definitely visit them, but mine aren't very active this early, and with the cold weather I haven't seen bumblebees about yet.

Oh, I like these too, they are so pretty, they get long looks from me in the plant nursery every time... do they spread much when you plant them?

They spread slowly, not half fast enough for when I want to divide them.
