When you have pricked out your flowers, what do you do with the compost left behind?
Can you reuse it again, or do I throw it in my current compost bin. :)
If I'm growing them on for planting out I put it into the new pots. If I'm going to have the plants in pots for more than a few weeks I chuck it.
Mine gets put into a bucket and saved to mix with riddled soil for carrots and parsnips
I have just emptied last years compost from our flower tubs over the flower bed at home. Have not even mixed it in as I will not be planting in it for another week or two. Just letting the rain water it in.
Usually goes on the raised beds which always seem to need topping up!
I save mine in an old refuse bin then when I empty my compost bin I riddle the two together a get a good free draining potting compost.
:-\ I have heard that some people microwave or steam their old compost to be sure they have killed off any bugs/nasties before it is reused or put into compost......

Ours tends to be used for top dressing... but using whole dustbins of the stuff for carrots and Potatoes it can be reused for storing veg over winter eg Carrots and JA's to stop the tubers drying out like old fashioned clamps.
