I am going to be growing my strawberries in a rolled down compost bag, cutting holes in the side and putting some on top.
What soil do you use?
Compost only, or Manure at the bottom with compost on top.. or mixed.
Confused on this one I am :D
don't know how expensive they are, you can get strawberry grow bags..we just improve our bed soil with rotted manure, also depends if you're just growing for a year then discarding them or leaving them :)
some people just grow them in grow bags for a year
Greedy plants they are....(why are we all talking like Yoda?!) I'm sure they will be grateful of anything you throw at them, manure wise. ;D
so can you plant them just in a bag of manure? I have bags from a garden centre.
manure will be too strong and encourage leaf at the expense of fruit - good compost is all they need and them feed maybe with comfrey - this is all I do, just feed them once as they are developing, about late May, and mine flourish and they are quite old plants now as well
others might say differently ;)
In good compost bags mine are put. Nothing added but water in the first month or so, then tomato feed, until runners be forming.
