Title: Too late to dig up Raspberry runners?
Post by: silly billy on March 26, 2008, 16:39:13
I have found loads of runners whilst clearing some ground, they are summer fruiting and some are up to 2ft in height. Is it too late to dig them up and move them to my fruit section?

Hi
No it is not too late...You can dig them up and plant them but they might not fruit this year...I would not let them even if they try...You have better chance getting them to set if you cut them about foot long and forget cropping from them this year.

Thanks for the replies. I am building abit of a screen using raspberry plants so the runners will come in handy. I never realised that you could actually regard raspberries as weeds but it is something I'm learning to do  :o :o Amazes me to think I used to buy them!! Does anyone else have trouble spotting which stems have fruited and which haven't? Also is it ok to cut the tops off when they reach the top of my wires as some of mine are 8ft?
