I've taken a couple of pictures over the last few weeks of my plot and I wondered what you all thought? Hopefully you can see from the pictures what I am trying to achieve but just in case, I'm trying to get beds this year, 3 wide and 5 deep plus an extra large full width bed for the potatoes.

There are still a few leeks left from the previous years crop plus the remnant's of the swiss chard. All of which has now been lifted and either eaten or composted.

I've dug a lot more since this photo was taken. You can see in the top left of the picture the garlic. On the right by the two pallets you can just see the green netting over the shallots and in front of there are the broad beans.
Behind me are the 4 compost bins and where I keep the odds and ends. The rhubarb is also here and I think because it is sheltered from the elements, it always seems to be a lot faster than everyone elses on the site.
So, what does everyone think of the plot? It's only a half plot and I intend to cram a lot in. Your thoughts and comments are all appreciated.
It looks like you forgot a place right in the very center for a chair, foot stool and small table for your drink so you can sit and ponder your great work! Looks to me like you won't be bored this summer, too.
Great plot.Are you going to put in paths?
I'm going to use old planks of wood I have gathered over the last couple of years. If this method works then I will keep the beds. The only problem I would have is the potatoes and following a proper rotation system but I can easily work around this. I just use the full width of one set of beds. I won't know until I try!
I'd like to see other peoples plots and theit plans for the year, so post some pictures!

I have quite a few small beds but I find that big areas of soil are good to have too, they're less fiddly with things like potato's, so I've changed the bottom half to one big area.
I can foresee lots of pleasurable days :D Do you get any seedlings from th epine trees in the background?
Nice plot-but a word of warning. I started with half a plot and ended up having six of them!!

Saddad they're anything but tedious. I love looking at the photos of your and Deb's plots - gives me something to aspire to.
The trees haven't been a problem, mind you, some time back, some juvenile delinquent decided to set fire to a shed which was near the tree and one of them was very badly burnt but I'm pleased so say it is still growing strongly.
The plots are at the top of the highest hill in Letchworth (if any of you know Wilbury Hills then you'll know what I'm talking about). If it wasn't for the trees which surround the plots then things would be a lot more wind swept.
By the way, I just had a delivery from a shop on eBay for 12 x Build-a-Ball's which cost just over £12.00. Let me know if you want the sellers details and I'll post it here.

It's looking good. It doesn't look as if you have too much to do, at least it's not full of couch grass like my plots were when I got them. And like GrannieAnnie said, all you need is a chair and table for your tea... Oh, and a shed to put them in :)
I've done all mine in lazy raised beds as well. They're a lot easier to maintain and keep weed free.

I wish a few more people would fill their gallery space.
Believe it or not, the plot hadn't been used for at least 10 years before I took it over. It was waist high in grass and brambled and that was only 4 1/2 years ago. It just goes to show, with a little bit of hard work and perseverance it is possible to make a plot workable. Last year I had in excess of 200lbs of cara potatoes. Granted most were damaged by wireworm but I still have some in the shed.
By the way, I do have a bit of a shed. It's behind me in the pictures.

From the left, I have a 3' compost bin, another 3' compost bin, 6' mini shed, another 3' compost bin (where the yellow pipe is) then finally another 3' compost bin.
actually, from this picture you can see the broadbeans and in the shallots just under the green netting in the foreground.
Looks good - can't wait till mine is finally dug over! - I agree completley with Plot69 too - Its really an inspiration to see photos of everyone's plots - gives you some good ideas which you might not otherwise have had and also a bit motivation to keep digging! ;D

I know, I've seen them many times. I quite often scroll through a topic clicking on peoples gallery, it's surprising how few there are.

It's all quite straight forward once you get to your profile.
Hi Pjw, great looking plot. Like Cleo I started off with half a plot and now have 2. There never seems enough room, always something else to try or a different way of doing things. This year I want to try building something to cover the tomatoes as suggested by other A4A members which will take more room so am now planning what to dig up next ::) One of my plots was just for veg and the other I wanted for my ponds and flowers, but I am having to dig the flower plot up to accommodate more veg I am growing
Never gave it a thought to put photo's in my gallery but will be doing it from now on.
