Title: Moving blog
Post by: simon404 on March 24, 2008, 17:39:31
I'm thinking of moving ISPs but I use my webspace at Tiscali to host my blog, which I'd lose.  I'd like to move to a site such as blogger but want to move what I've already written as well. Does anyone have any experience of doing this? I used Frontpage to write it and uploaded it with Ipswich WS_FTP

Given that you wrote all your own pages, the relevant files should still be on your computer unless you've deleted them. If in doubt, use your ftp client to download all files including images, scripts etc to a directory on your box then all you have to do is upload them all again to the new isp.

If you are really stuck and need to keep a web presence, I could lend you a subdomain for a short time.

Cheers, thanks, that makes sense  :)  I'm thinking of using Blogger because I don't think my new ISP (either talk talk or sky) provide any webspace  :(

Looking at the amount of content that you have on your blog, it'll take quite a bit of work to get it all into Blogger, or any other blog provider for that matter.

It will be worth it though, once you have done it. You don't have inordinate amounts of content, so it won't take forever.

Good luck!
