Title: Looking for can you help?
Post by: cambourne7 on March 20, 2008, 20:19:54
Hi Guys,

My parents had this kitchen gadget which they no longer have but i want one.

Heres the description see if you can find one as i cant!!

It looked like two bowls one on top of the other with a pipe that went from the bottom one up to the tap. Inside the bowl there was a wall that went around the inside of the bowl which looked like sandpaper. The water turned this and when you put potatoes in the skins got scrubbed off.

I have looked and can only find plug in ones

Has anyone seen one??

I cant peal potatoes as the starch burns my hands so i have to wear gloves when i peal them which is a pain. So its the husbands job!!  ;)

Cam it is called potato  Rumbler,I call it my Tumbler I have one that fits my Kenwood Major and another that fits my food processor.I remember one that fit in the tap but I like these ones.

I use it constantly and could never be withouit it

If you have an appliance you might be able to get a bit to go on it.

I expect the water powered one will no longer be available due to the waste of water, mother had one years ago, it was only any for good skinning new potatoes. Why don't you just wash your spuds and eat the lot peel and all. Suppposed to be good for you.

I think there might be a hand cranked model that is something similar to a salad spinner.

I just rang my mother. She has one because peeling spuds 'burnt' her hands. Hers broke quite a while back but she keeps taping it up!
She tried to get another one but the shop she got it from told her it's not available now.
I remember it was a pain trying to clean all the bits of skin off the sand-paper.

Have I just read that ebay item right? Peel your spuds, dry your lettuce and then give your knickers a spin. NO THANKS!
