How do I stopped myself from getting sort of an electric shock from the car please. It happens to me all the time, and most uncomfortable it is too. It is fine when I'm getting into the car, the problem only arises when I'm trying to get out. Why is this happening please. Thank you.
Try one of those earth strap things or a garage.
I wish you had asked a question about a barrow i have one of them.
Does it happen to anyone else or just you
Wear wool, not synthetics.

rub the seat with a fabric softener sheet
drive naked
I thought touching the glass window worked, but maybe not

Thank you RT for the link, incredible loads of information. As for driving naked, oh well it's nice to be famous, but I'm not sure I would like to be that famous yet!
I get a shock when I dust the front of my TV, just in one spot where you can plug something in. Son explained to me about static etc etc, my answer.. easily solved I have given up dusting :)
When we had a haulage business our eldest daughter (only her) got a shock if she turned the radio on in her Dad's lorry.
Thank you Mickw and Mr Ken, your responses are much appreciated. I will try all methods suggested.

Oops!! forgot that one. ;D
Hi Arumlily,
Do you the same shoes all of the time when you're driving?
If so, try wearing a diffrent pair - its obviously a build up of static and some shoes are worse then others ;D
or maybe get some rubber car mats - that might solve it?..
I sometimes get a static shock when I kiss the cat. Makes both of us jump :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Ladies used to get a shock when I kissed them. :-*
I would get a shock when they slapped my face. ::)
I'm always getting static shocks. You'll recognise me in public places - I'm the one earthing myself with my elbow before I hold metal handrails on staircases. When I take lifts I use my elbow to press the buttons. And oldest daughter has to keep a reasonable distance between us when we're walking around, or if she touches me I shock her too. ;D
You lot have had it easy. As a youngster first time aboard ship I had to observe a helicoptor landing on the deck. The old salt who was instructing us told me to grab the thin wire that was lowered from above. BANG! it was the lead that they used to short the static to earth on the deck before landing.
One hell of a shock, and very funny for the rest of the crew.
