After unsuccessful attempts to grow poppies for years this has sprung up and a few more similar to it with hairy leaves. Last year some type of oriental poppy (I believe) grew, again not one I'd planted but the flower became slimy before it even opened so this would not be from its seed. Also, the leaf looks somewhat different. Any ideas?
Hmmm,. can't say I'd put any money on it being a poppy. Being generous, it might turn into a wild scabious. Possibly.
Quite possibly... but a native not an oriental...
:-\
Give it little more time GA, it will be a surprise whatever it grows into. Looks like your stone is equally confused ;D ;D ;D
looks like some of the ones I'm growing ;D
Looks like my poppy seedlings.....could you shove that bulb back in I'm feeling really sorry for it!
what d'ya reckon ?

I've never grown a scabious, wild or otherwise. This has a bluish green color. I'll mark them and see what develops. Thank you all for your guesses. :D
Manic's poppies aren't the same - the leaflets are angled at about 45 degrees, whereas those in the first photo are at 90 degrees. I think I back the wild scabious (which I keep digging out).
