I was looking forward to doing some more in the garden, rain stopped play!
Hi gunnerbee. ;) been down lottie planted shallots hoped to get the ground ready for my pots but the rain drifted in. Had a cuppa in the shed but the wet did'nt look like stopping so gave up and came home. Nice hot bath and a drop of something warming.I dont think tomorrow is going to be any better so another week to wait before I can go again. :(
happy paddling Pickle ;D
It's just started raining here, about half an hour ago when I'd finished all my other jobs!
:'(
Same here, rain just started. Got few jobs done which included making some 2bar fencing round one of the borders, dog has decided (over the winter) that she likes to walk along the border. A little shouting and retraining to do >:( Sciatica set in so don't suppose I could have done much more, always tomorrow ;D
Hello Pickle, you must be fairly new as I don't recognise the name,,was my old tap dancing teacher though!!
Just saying hello
XX Jeannine
Hi jeannine , yes I've only been with you a week or so , enjoying as there are some good threads, some hearty banter which helps keep us all cheery.
Pickle is what im usually in so its apt. :-\
Tap dancin :-[ well only in the bathroom. ;)
Thanks for the greeting Pickle ;D
I've just been out in the damp drizzle digging over and weeding one of my raised beds in the back garden...the cats were watching me from the comfort of the greenhouse as if I was nuts! ;D
Sometimes cats can be very perceptive Deb!
:-X
Been to the lottie today, but its raining now, just seen a football match report in Hull and its foggy. :o ??? ;D ;D ;D
I got dragged out to go shopping with the wife, and by the time I got to the plot it was peeing it down. I potted Carolinej's strawberries up, and that was all I managed.
The weather has not been too bad here today. I have planted 12 different varieties of toms and some parsley in the raised beds in our garden. We will be off down the plot tommorrow! The forcast is for sunny intervals so fingers crossed!
been rain since 11 this morning, pouring down now! grrrrrr!
We were lucky here it started to rain at 3pm, I need to get manure and it will be dripping.......eeuww :-\ Not today as its closed now. ;D
apparantly rained all day here. wouldnt know myself been in bed asleep cos im on nights lol ;D
Not too bad day here, the odd bit of drizzle, but managed to get plenty of work done on my personal allotments, took a brush cutter to the new plot I've taken next to my other three! Also found a tray of leek seedlings, although I have no idea where they are from, but they were in a sheltered spot by my shed, and were thriving, so have popped them in the ground and fleeced them up, so fingers crossed for my leeks please!
The weather forecast is awful for the next three days, which is all the time I have left to work on my work allotment project before I go on holiday to do more work on my personal ones!!!
Allotmenting is non-stop for me, Monday to Friday, on the mental health allotment project that I run, then weekends and holidays on my personal allotments with my partner.
I am sooo lucky!
Had little bit of s drizzle this morning and thats about all not sunny but not that bad to stop the Para gliders of the beach banks this evening. Well, except for the lad being carried on the frame of one. " Hard landing " i asked " No tripped over the frame and broke my leg" he said. Dont laugh David dont luagh why not he cant catch you i said to myself.
;D ;D ;D Thats harsh Davy, its like when someone says "please call me an ambulance". You say of course mate "you're an ambulance" ::)..............He still cant catch you ;D ;D ;D
Not on my allotment today as I am down in Sunny Surrey. But did see some lovely allotments as I walked the dog, I think it is, Putney Vale, it's a carry on of Wimbledon Common. Two people were working their allotment's I wanted to call out anyone here from A4A but didn't have the courage :)
Anyway didn't rain until we got back at around 2 pm, a nice day in Surrey though.
Sinbad
I have hardly done any ground work this year due to the rain, this time last year I had a tan!!!
its still chucking it down here and i have a load of cauliflowers to put out :-X
Yep, more of the same here, only yesterday we had no wind.
Not today.......'swindy
Dont mind rain and I dont mind wind, I DO NOT like them together >:(
Woken up to a nasty drizzle in East Sussex........which means I suppose I have to do some housework........or I could sow my tomatoes ??? Wonder which one will win! ::) ;D
Yesterday had a rare moment from OH who said lets go down the plot :o (Only the 2nd time in 10 years I have heard those words!)
After picking myself up off the floor we bundled into the car armed with spinach and beetroot to go under the cloche, and a few new pots. Got up there, got tools out and then got a hysterical phone call from daughter......her beloved 8 year old Guinea Pig had died :'( :'( :'( So raced home, calmed said daughter, dragged her back up too, then of course the rain started!! Now I would have stayed, but OH and teenager are not the outdoorsie type, so had to come home and play with seeds instead! ;D ;D
Been raining here pretty much constantly since 9am yesterday, kids hate it cos they still have to take the dogs out! lol Mind you I hate it when they come back looking like chocolate coloured Springers! Why oh why did I get a cream sofa with 2 springies in the house ???
lovely and sunny here..................... so far.
its raining here in Lincoln and has been since six this morning and its windy :( :( which means no lotty for me today wonder if OH wants to go to a garden centre erm how can i get him to go ????
Same here, I think it has been raining all night, it was when I went out with the dog at midnight and still raining when I got up at 7am. Flipping wind has also got blustery again. Methinks I will strip the wallpaper in the hall to give vent to my misery :'(
Rainy here too - started 3 pm yesterday and hasn't stopped. :(
But there's always a silver lining I have Monday and tuesday off work YAYYYY!! and forecast is good allotmenting weather. Double YAYYYYYY!!! ;D
Rain rain rain what a pain. :'( :'( :'(
The only good thing about all this wet and cold weather is i will enjoy my roast pork lunch all the more, followed by lighting the log fire and snoozing!
Light rain on the east coast this morning, but I harvested parsnips, leeks, purple sprouting broccoli, and the First Rhubarb this season!! I've already had the woodburner alight since last night, A Roast dinner, followed by a rhubarb crumble..... Hard Life, ain't it?
rhubarb crumble with custard mmmmm!
Wet and windy here. Rhubarb for pudding here today as well!
My rhubarb's coming on nicely, apart from the two clumps which drowned in the waterlogging last summer. Apart from that, the rain's stopped, I sat through a committee meeting in a decidedly cold shed, and got two trays of leeks and six pansy varieties planted. Looking at the weather forecast, it's likely to remain too cold for outdoor planting all week.
could not get onto my plot today to check on the rhubarb made it up but the site of my mangled greenhouse and the high winds made me want to turn tail and run.
I will go up wednesday to check on the 4 rubarb crowns when i looked at them a month ago they were just breaking though the ground.
The weather here has been really nasty, in fact the wind work me up about 7am this morning and the rain has been fairly constant since about 6pm yesterday evening.
Going to sulk now!
hi all,yep lousy day here to,did nip to lotty to pick some rhubarb( mines gone mad ,got loads of it),and made a nice crumble with it,1st time i have made a crumble.
It's not the rain in Essex that's my problem (although it's that kind of drizzle that gets everything soaked) - but the freezing, biting wind. I don't mind getting wet overally much but the wind today seems to make everything miserably cold.
I haven't even taken the dog out yet...........
I sowed a load of seeds today, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, okra, asparagus, butternut squash, watermelons and pumpkins.
They are all inside my newly re-covered and cleaned out greenhouse.
Miserable day? It's been a bloody miserable weekend here.
Went down the caravan Friday afternoon in brilliant sunshine with full intent to put the awning up and then on Sunday go for a cruise up river on our narrow boat.
Saturday morning got up, lovely calm day albeit overcast but still got the awning up. Put the storm straps on just as it started raining only to find the electric to the whole site had gone off so couldn't make tea or watch tele until they fixed it. It took two electricians all day testing the whole site only to find I'd hammered a 12" steel tent peg through the electric hookup cable which fused the whole site... 300 caravan inhabitants weren't too happy with me. However the 22 stone soggy wet Welsh site manager who'd spent all day with the sparks searching for the fault and who'd missed his rugby thought it highly amusing. He'd been telling the site owners for years it needed replacing so now it has to be done... To the tune of £40k..... Oooops!
Anyway, they restored power to the rest of the site and with the help of three hookup lead we got power back on as well.
The the rain got heavier, the wind got stronger, the rain got heavier and the wind got even stronger and despite the electric fiasco I was pretty pleased I'd put the storm straps on.
Apart from the wind rocking the caravan about violently, my 7 year old son kept us up all night being sick and he had the trots pretty bad as well.
Got up Sunday morning to find the river was 5 foot higher, my boat was sitting 10 foot out from dry land, it was still P'ing down so we packed up and came home.
I'm now looking forward to a nice long relaxing stress free week back at work!
It was horrible in swindon today, pouring with rain and so windy, wish summer woudl hurry up
Went to the plot today, first time in a week as I have been away. All my newly dug beds under 2 ins of water so I guess I can say goodbye to my Jerusalem artichoke and garlic I planted a few weeks ago.
On the plus side I planted a Victoria plum and a Williams' pear so wish them luck.
I HATE CLAY SOIL :'(
