??? planted some autumn raspberries canes at the end of last year, followed the instructions, dug in some well roted manure, soaked the canes for 24hrs.
end of last month i cut them back as it says i should
should i be seeing some new growth or something ???
all help greatly received
Not sure as mine also look dead. But I gave them a light tug in the soil and they didnot pull out so I ssumed there msut be some roots alive underground and they will sprout soon I hope .
Hope this helps you .
One of mine has a 1 inch shoot coming up from the ground, so do not worry!

I think my established ones are only just showing signs of new growth after the frosts of a couple of weeks ago killed off the early shoots. I wouldn't be worried for another 3 weeks or so.
On mine, last years growth has got some small leaves on.
I would not worry too much I have Joan J (new), Fallgold (new) and Autumn bliss 1 year old in my garden. Some are and some aren't showing new growth, I am sure they all will soon.
If you lightly stratch the stem with your finger nail and see green, you know they are still alive, if not, you have sticks growing ;D
I think you have to be pretty clever to kill them!

Don't worry they just sit there looking dead then suddenly spring into life. I have some new shoots appearing through the ground which I can only just see but this is their third Year so they're quite established now they weren't so quick the first year. Mine are Autumn Bliss. Unfortunately my canes which are still heeled in waiting for their plot have burst bud.....the annoying '*&%$!!!
I'm a bit behind because my backs been in agony and it looks like the new canes are going to have to stay heeled in till after my holiday by which time their plot will be like concrete!

Definitely true. I have (or thought I had) dug half of my bed out as too many. Going over the area again and still finding root which is springing back to life - even though nothing on the surface.
Looking back at my records for last year I got given my raspberry canes on the 10th March & they were just sticks. A month later they had shoots a ranging from a few cm to a few inches tall....so not expecting them to do much just yet...although one or 2 have the beginnings of shoots.
think i need to clean the raspberry plot up a bit - lot of windfall twigs etc on it - thats why i couldn't see the new canes - not many - but at least something - thanks for the advice. ;D
I cut mine back and now there are loads of new growth. A lot of suckers too.
