Title: Just registered
Post by: Bex3 on March 12, 2008, 18:24:09
I have just joined and am in the process of getting an allotment. New to all this allotment stuff!!!! I am sure that I will be a regular asking for lots of advice.
So here is my first question - The 2 allotments that are available are very overgrown (of course!). They both have derelict sheds that are beyond repair!! Will the council clear them or will it be up to me? I am in Lincoln.

Hiya Bex, Kettle's boiled.....tea or coffee?....milk?....sugar?............Jaffa cake?

Welcome aboard ;)

Good luck with the shed removal, some of the wood may be good enough for cold frames or something else really useful.

Hi Bex,

our council will clear for people if they are badgered a great great deal, but it's a bad idea - they send a digger in and scrape several inches of soil off, and dump it in the hedge. takes years (apparently) to get back to normal. Year before last I dug loads of soil out of the hedge to spread over our plot

Hi, We're on a council site in Leicestershire (which is committie ran) and they've just started providing a Skip which we can use to dump our unwanted stuff in, this has been fab as we've been able to get rid of some old shed remnants from when we had to take ours down.

It may be worth posing this as an idea to your council too ??

Cheers

my mate seems to think its a bloke called Steve Beaumont if that's any help to you  its a shame you cant remember the numbers that you were looking at as i know that there are a couple on my side that has got sheds on them and they are only a few lottys away from me but then round the over side there are some there as well but good luck oh and just so you are aware and i don't want to frighten you off we do have a couple of blokes on the site (that we are trying to get removed)that like little children so i would be on your guard if you have any kids they are at number 43 odd looking pair you wont fail to spot them well enough of my rambling good luck with your new Lotty
