For those of you thinking about growing your squash upwards on frames next year, this is one plant, Hubbard.

Is that bought-in netting - or your crochet??
Ours haven't even left the ground yet. = Tim
My crochet work Tim! Using the string that comes from hay bales, very tough stuff! ;D
only one thing i can say.Well done Doris.
What patience! And a straight eye? = Tim
Excellent Doris. I didn't get around to encouraging Ava to build my arch - next year maybe. I shall make sure he has a good look at your piccy also, so he can be all inspired. His list of allotment jobs is growing by the day!
While you service the bike?? = Tim
My hands can not possibly get any dirtier Tim, and I think I know one end of a spark plug from another.
Doris, the photo of the courgette frame is clear and informative, but how high do they actually climb? I would assume it to be about the same height as their natural spread when allowed to grow horizontally; is this the case?
Yes Waterfeatures, Those hubbards grew taller than me but I am only 5'2"!
Think they went to about 6 ft, (I make my frames to be approx 6 foot tall) but I do tend to encourage them to go sideways as well as upwards to try and cover the frame by twinning them in and out! Hope that helps....DP
