Franchi seeds offer schools returned seeds to save them being destroyed for only £1 for 6 packs, so i placed my order and thought it would be a good idea for our local school, rang them earlier and explained that i had the seeds etc and they didnt seem that bothered and said that only 4/5 year olds grow the veg, so i suggested a competition throughout the school, "well they would have to ask blah blah blah first" was the reply i got. is it worth it?
Feel like keeping them myself !!
hmm, sounds familiar.and sad
i am a teacher and agree it is really difficult to get through to someone at schools these days.
can you try to contact the head directly? they may want someone with knowledge to go and help them grow too.
remind them that the government now insists we 'stay healthy' as part of their
Every Child Matters initiative.
and finally how did you get the seeds?
It does seem like it is only the very young ones who are encouraged to grow things. I dont understand that either.
Maybe you can find a nursery school close to you that would actually appreciate them?
The last posts crossed, that also sounds good, put pressure on the school. Tell them you're from Jamie Olivers place, then they'll listen :D
Yes seeds of italy are supplying to the schools on their webpage, £1, but you have to pay a delivery charge, so worth placing an order at the same time!!
