Just been browsing BBC news website and came across this story
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_east/7277775.stm
I have my fingers crossed it can be saved
how awful for them, hope they've been in touch with the national society >:(
Sounds to me that it is pretty weird - giving the current tenants only a week's notice.
Should think something dodgy going on! If they had paid their rents up then surely they would be entitled to proper notice of the current growing season?!
I hope that they don't get kicked off. Hopefully with the ponies for the disabled there - they generally have sufficient clout nationally to raise a stink!
I will watch this one and see what happens!
>:(
That absolutely stinks............I would understand if it were a neglected site. But how DARE they.
I will leave my comments at that before I say something really nasty.
They must be devastated :o
cj :)
This has been going on since last summer although they have a lot of support & the campaign to save the allotments has been publicised in the papers & on TV things are not looking good.
Here are a few more relevant links:

Having taken on our allotment we now know for a fact that a very big house builder from the east mids who built the estate that backs onto our allotments put in a new road of only a few metres long which leads to the allotments with a price tag of a million £ on it, that is todays price if you want to buy it, he would like first refusal on the land that our allotments are on if the council ever makes the land available, >:(
They have just been on the local news again. It seems it is currently a privately owned site & they are pushing the council to seek a compulsory purchase order for the allotment site.
On BBC news this afternoon, the eviction is now on hold whilst talks continue with the private landlord. Fingers crossed. :)
Unfortunatley private landlords can sell the land if they so wish. As says in this government reply I got today:
