Post by: caseylee on March 04, 2008, 09:50:12
I have alot of pieces of wood that was from used flooring, and panels from my laudry room ( pine slats) can I use these in some way to make a raised bed would they be any good.  I am trying to use as much spare stuff as I have instead of filling the tips

If your pine is in shorter lenths having been used once  did you think of using it to make a cold frame /or two they dont need the lenths that a raised bed might need and only need some glass for the lid/s

Good idea there, especially if it's T&G stuff. (Tongue & groove.)

I've got a giant green platic one on my allotment, the oh bought me a new one for my garden for mothers day, and so I don't need three at home so I took it to the lottie.  The peices are tounch and groove I believe, I already have two coldframes at home ( thank you freecycle) but am so deperate for raised beds.  I have been told not to use flooring for this as it is useless, has anyone else ever tried it with flooring

Ahh,  if only it were possible to use cheap IKEA laminate flooring for raised beds, we'd be laughing.  Have a huge heap of it down the side of the garage to go to the tip - almost got rid of all of it from the previous owners.

Sounds like you need to take up the venerable sport of skip diving! ( or it's companion event - builder bothering!)
