Title: Suggestions ( and suppliers ) for red cabbage variety
Post by: raisedbedted on March 03, 2008, 15:00:46
Hey everyone,

I'm on the look out for a red cabbage variety to be used for braising and pickling over next winter.

Have found some early ones quoted as ready from August onwards but I'd rather be eating salads in august and cabbage in winter  :)

Does anyone have any recommendations as regards varieties and suppliers of?

Thanks.......

Hi Hilary,

Thanks for the offer I have seen them detailed in some of the catalogues.  Did you store any of the cabbages and do they store well - we're currently going through a hungry gap and I'm trying to plan ahead for this time next year.

Hi RBT

Some i ate fresh, and some i pickled, and the rest i stored.  They seem to be doing very well.  I chose the variety in the first place because of the 'claim' that they were good to store - i think i agree!!!
