Following on from my previous message (sorry about CAPS), I wondered if anyone has seen Coir compost for sale. One year I bought it and my seed sowing was very succesful using this medium. Since then I have never seen it anywhere. I bought it from Focus but they don't sell it anymore.
I used it a few years ago but found it dried out too easily...
:-\
I had problems finding any, I think you can get it mail order. But I dont think its cheap buying it that way, might be wrong though.
I think it's availability has declined because it has to travel thousands of miles to get here.
The production also deprives the locals of the compost they need for their coconut plants.
So it's not very 'green'. :(
Very true..........
Is this the stuff that comes in bricks? If so they had it in Wilkinsons last year.
It is available from the organic garden catalogue (http://www.organiccatalog.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=60_176&osCsid=49d12bd65f7f9e597fbc8c01800f840e), they choose to sell it despite the environmental implications which were discussed in this thread. http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/index.php/topic,27607
Sorry, I had not thought about the "green" aspects. Will carry on with a decent quality multi purpose as I don't believe the seed compost I bought is helping germination much. Thank you all.
