Im new to A4A & also to growing my own anything :o
I've waited a few years for an allotment near my home & Im finally going to view one on Monday ;D
I know I will be asking many many basic questions for quite some time to come... hope that's ok ;)

Hello CrystalMoon welcome to A4A.
Congratulations on your new lottie...Oh very exciting isn't it?
Don't forget to take along your camera. I found taking pics, as I progressed, really did help me along, especially if I didn't feel I was making any progress. The pics proved I was. ;D

Welcome to A4A! Congrats on joining the allotmenteers!
If you don't mind letting us know what area you are in, it sometimes helps when giving advice on planting times etc.
Welcome ;D. You will really like this site I think as the people on it are so helpful. I have learned a lot since joining and I don't think I haven't had a question yet that hasn't received an answer.
By the way you will find that the site becomes addictive. I visit everyday even if its for 15 mins in my lunchbreak. I start to suffer withdrawal pangs when i haven't visited for a couple of days, and have severe sulks when the site has one of it's very rare blips and isn't available. My OH is advising therapy ::)
hiya, crystalmoon, welcome to the site, bet youre sooo excited..and a bit nervous as well ;D
Welcome aboard Crystalmoon... most of us don't bite...
;D
Hi Crytsalmoon ;D ;D
Welcome......its all been said about this site already. Great big family full of advice, successes and failures, humour and ....lots of piccies.
Enjoy your look around and time here. Happy growing on your new lottie ;D ;D
Welcome to the asylum for growers Crystalmoon. :P :P :P ;D ;D ;D
Thank you everyone for such a warm welcome.
Caroline - Im in Kent (Ashford), any tips most appreciated ;)
I went to have a look at the allotment site today. I have no idea which ones are free (apart from one massive jungle like plot that I assume isnt receiving any TLC at the moment)
There wasnt anyone there to ask so will just have to wait til Monday to learn if the jungle plot is to be mine :D
The many gates to the site were strongly padlocked so guess that keeps vandals out.
I got lots of books from the library today to keep me busy & give me inspiration.
Hi, Crystalmoon,
Welcome to A4A. When in doubt ask - I do!
I was brought up on the Marsh, but now have been in London for a long time. Can't recall any allotments near Ashford but wasn't really interested back then - is Beaver Field on the Beaver Estate? I think there is another member near Ashford but can't remember whom.
Happy growing
