anyone know any with no added sugar, we don't mind it with fruit ..Sam's been told Matthew can have yoghurt now but she can't find any ???
Yoghurt is easy enough to make manics and you will have the frozen fresh fruit that can be blended into it.
how old is matthew? :)
I put my son on yoghurts at 6 months old. Coz apparently they can have cows milk then.
In supermarkets.. there are special branded baby yoghurts.. but my health visitor told me not to waste my money.
I buy him WildLife ones, and they are fine :)
Hope that helps.... I only gave him one every second day, as i made pots and pots of fruit puree's for him.
:D
you're right, anne, we've got loads of fruit purees in the freezer, apple, pear, strawberries etc, trouble is, she was told he can have yoghurt today, I thought it was 6 months but he's only 4 1/2 months yet..
she's panicking, her health visitor told her he's in perfect proportion but, today, a big mouthed nurse asked her if she was feeding him too much , said he's a bit big.
he's a big baby, he's healthy and coming on well, managing to turn himself over, trouble is, she's got lots of common sense but worries lots :)
Manic, my son is off all the charts :) What they keep forgetting is how tall I am. He is predicted to be 6.5 in adulthood. They were concerned that his bones were growing too quick and he was too big!!!.
I think if they are healthy and happy... forget what the health visitors say.
To be honest, I would wait till he is 6 months old before you give him cows milk (yoghurt). Coz at 4.5 months, his stomach has not fully got used to solids yet.
Stick to puree's for now :D
thanks, sprigbok, my son in law is 6'3, my daughter is 5'9, we have lots of tall people in our family..Callum is only 9 and in size 3 shoes already..thanks, folks..I'll remember about the yoghurt, anne, might try making some with goat's milk as I can't tolerate cows milk :)
You really need to forget the health visitor stuff and work with your baby. (Having said that, my HV was a total star and I not only listened but stored it up for future generations!! ;) ;))
Is s/he content or constantly hungry? Breast or bottle? Any allergies?
Then talk to Mum?
Then give it a try and see how it works?
no, he's only hungry at meal times, apart from first thing, he's sleeping through the night, lucky girl, but she couldn't carry on breast feeding :(
he's no allergies at the moment but there are people with asthma, psoriasis, eczema, in the immediate family :)
I was advised to give my second son rusks at 3 months because he was breast fed but always hungry. I think they don't really know and their advice is best guess. All the tables are worked out on averages anyway. I would reckon as long as the yoghurt is made from pasteurised milk it's OK. Or use goat's milk yoghurt if allergies might be a problem. The baby won't give a d**n whether it has added sweetener or not so easy to accustom him to unsweetened and do his waist a favour for future years.
How do you decide whether a 4andahalf month baby is just big or overweight? Again it's based on averages. If your baby is bigger than average he could be outside the parameters that they use. Anyway at the moment he's having bottle milk. provided it's made up according to instructions he should be OK - ie not getting too much or too little. Yoghurt will just get him used to using a spoon with a milk like substance.
I wouldn't stress about it. Just buy a nice yoghurt suitable for babies and see how it goes. Can't remember how many feeds per day a baby gets at that age but maybe introduce it before the bottle mid- morning. Just a wee bit each day?

Is he already taking other solids? There is plenty of advice available on weaning children with a family history of allergies, see below, I particularly like the recommendation that they start gin and tonic at 18!

he's been having baby porridge, gluten free for a couple of weeks, likes fruit and vegetable puree, seperately, of course..I asked her this morning and she checked, he'a allowed yoghurt from 4 months..she's going to wait a little longer as he seems quite satisfied with the home made purees at the moment ;D
hi there has ur daughter in law/or daughter tried putting some fruit puree into the porridge??, couple of post up sum1 mentioned wild ones baby yogs or summit like that i used these also on all 4 of mine they loved them. munch bunch do some too not sure if they still from 4 months or not now. the baby is the best person to decide when ready for things and ofcourse mums instinct is best of the best in most cases, but what i would say is not too much too soon, stick to one flavor or variety at a time for say few days or a wk.. ...... that way if any reaction you will have btr chance of working out what could or may have cause it. mpg
here he is ;D
he is lovely, i wouldn say he too big. looks very happy and healthy his mum must be doing a wonderful job, you must all be very proud..... mpg
He's lovely manics!
