Title: Cheap alternative to capillary matting

After costing the amount of capillary matting needed for my greenhouse staging :o, I was wondering if anyone has used an alternative. Would an old blanket cut to fit & placed over plastic sheeting have the same effect? Or has anyone else a better solution? ;D

Sand!!

In effect like a hot bed without the cable.

Then all you do is water the sand.

Tee Gee, is that sharp, silver or common 'any old' sand?
