Title: When to sow wheat?
Post by: spiritofold on February 22, 2008, 12:57:57
I "collected" some wheat from a field last year, with the intention of trying to grow my own to hopefully try and grind some flour and make bread.
My question is, when do i sow the wheat?

I've read conflicting advice saying to sow in the autumn, and that its best when the ground has warmed up?

Do any of you have any idea when is best?

Cheers!

you can sow in spring but your yield will be greatly affected if the wheat was a winter variety and the flower will not be that good also spring sown wheat is more at risk from fungal disease.
my advise is to wait until late september then sow your wheat
