I haven't grown those specific varieties but last year i bought a load of stuff from Packet Seeds, and across the board the germination rate was, at best, 30%, so you'll need to sow more than you think you're going to need.

I have tried to grow from seed but it did not go very well.  Is 30% good or bad ??

It depends, 30% of 200 seeds is plenty, 30% of 15 seeds is not.

Plant loads of seeds to make sure, they're cheap anyway.

Sorry for the delay. Sawfish is right, plant at least twice as many as you want to end up with. In my book 30% is poor; 80% is good.
