Title: Raspberries
Post by: beckydore on February 20, 2008, 16:11:57
I went to bed with my copy of the fruit expert last night and was dismayed to see that it said that you should plant Glen Clova raspberries away from others as they are susceptible to disease.  Was really annoyed as I thought they were the middle row in my 3 rows. Was wondering if it was worth me moving them... and had wierd dreams about raspberry canes.

then when I checked my aldi fruit bush purchases in the shed this morning I realised they were more Glen Clova (and 15 of them, having bought 5 packs!!) - decided they could go down the other end of the lottie.

Got down to the lottie this afternoon and was relieved to see mine were Glen Lyon instead... but now can't see them at all in The Fruit Expert. Hopefully they are ok to plant with others.

PS The aldi raspberry canes are very slim in comparison to the ones I bought in the autumn. My packs were 10 canes for £5.50 in Trago Mills (famous in the West Country for its bargains and fire risks). I really bought them for the loganberries instead.

The 'expert' series is by Dr.D.G.Hessayon - loads of different books in it.
