Title: black raspberrys
Post by: tomatoada on February 19, 2008, 14:03:22
In an American medical news item I read that "black raspberrys were good for helping certain cancers".  In America  do they call blackberrys black raspberrys?

Black Raspberries:

All the rubuses

Blackberries are Rubus fruticosus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubus_fruticosus)

I remember seeing an article in Kitchen Garden magazine about a woman who had grown black raspberries from seed (Chiltern seeds I think). I looked into it but read they are a 'wild' variety that is renown for their height and spreading, which put me off!

Very confusing names. The black raspberries also are smaller and when you pick them the core stays behind on the cane. The blackberries tend to be seedier, at least the ones around here.
