Title: seeds
Post by: jesssands on February 18, 2008, 20:54:33
can you guys recommend a good internet vegetable seed supplier please?

And I'd like to grow some swede and parsnip. Can you suggest a good variety too.
As a kid, mums swede used to be really orange and mashed well, today the ones we buy today seem to be less in colour, harder to mash and seem to be, quite sort, of wet, if you know what i mean. if anyone can point me in the direction of the swede from yester-year that would be great!
Thanks x

I rarely buy from internet suppliers of seeds myself. 90% of the time I support my local lottie shop.

However, the site link below is saved in my favourites. It lists the majority of main players in the internet seed suppliers:

I've done Kings through my allotment society and had good results cropwise/tastewise with Marian swede and Imperial Crown parsnip.  You can order online too and their service is v good.

Alot of peeps on here buy from Real Seeds. I've bought a large amount from them, germination, so far so good.

I agree , Nickys nursery, Real Seeds, Kings and also Alan Romans for the basics. Another good one is the Organic Gardening Catalogue.

Not a big online buyer - tend to buy from lottie society and here and there, where there is something I want at a price I am prepared to pay.  Never really had a bad online buying experience though so here are all the ones I can remember using:
http://www.realseeds.co.uk/
http://www.kingsseeds.com/
http://www.suffolkherbs.com/ (same firm as Kings)
http://www.dobies.co.uk/default.aspx

Have never bought them online but their seeds have always been all right:

http://www.suttons-seeds.co.uk/
http://www.johnsons-seeds.com/

Also:
Lidls
Wilkos
Nettos
etc for good quality seeds if a somewhat limited range.

I got some swede from kings this year, will check and let you know. I'll be able to spare some seeds if you want any.
