Title: how about a seed chain letter
Post by: euphoria on February 18, 2008, 17:14:33
the idea is that the first person makes a small parcel of seeds and posts it to 3 people. when they get their they take what they want add to it and make 3 new parcels to post. We have an email address collection thread, of the people who want to be posted seeds, so you just choose 3 emails at random and contact them and see how many seeds can be spread around. I am up for starting if anyone is interested

I'd like to get on one too.  I'm quite new so I'd missed most of them and didn't understand them at first.  Anyone thinking of setting one up please let me know.  I've bought loads of seeds but would like to try differant strains of things I have instead of all the same.  TWIRLIE :)

You could always start a pass the parcel of your own Twirlie, The best advice would be from the guys who have already organised one, If you pm one of them, Im sure they would be happy to direct you.

Or just put a list of what you want to swop, and the seeds you would like to try in a seperate thread in 'Swops' and see what response you get.

Just a thought ;)

i think it would be a great idea to start a new pass the parcel that any 'newbies' who may have been unsure before could join. its very simple. one person needs to say "i will organise this" and then all those who want to be included pm the organiser who makes up a parcel with their own spare seeds and a list of the names and adresses of the other participants.  the parcel travels around the country to all the names on the list, one by one. when it reaches you you take what you want and add some of your own and pass it on.  its a great way of gatting more varieties of one type of veg such as tomatoes or chillies etc.

i would start this one off myself but having taken part in two this year i am not very flush with spare seeds at the mo. perhaps you could promote it as a newbie swap or something. or maybe just a newbie priority one. of  both the ones i have been involved in there have been about twenty names on each list. of course you have to be aware that your name and address are there for other participants to see.  :)

I have some "Newbie" seeds,  these are common seeds for common veggies, non specialist.  I would be happy to send some to the organiser of the "Newbie - Seed Parcel" - I went mad at "end of season" clearouts at Wyevale.
