Title: Just a quick question about rotovating
Post by: wheelabo on February 18, 2008, 10:03:27
Just got my Tenancy Agreement.  States that admin fee of £24 includes one free rotovation.  Would this be worth having?  Will it just spread the weeds or should I dig the the grass up first?  I dunno I'm new :-\

Rotavating chops the weed roots up without removing them. If you're digging them out by hand, it's harder to find all the little bits. if you're covering with black plastic, the little bits have less stored energy, and die faster. It's up to you.

I would dig by hand, then take up the offer of the rotovator to turn the soil to a fine powder for planting.

I dug most of mine by hand and then the council rotavated it afterwards on the bits I hadn't managed and I have to say it's made my life a lot easier in the past few weeks.   ;D
