Hello again! I have just looked at the Thompson & Morgan site and their new seed catalogue comes out in September. You can register your address to receive one.

Now don't forget, fellow horticulturalists - keep your eyes peeled for the late summer/autumn sale in your local garden centre where seeds can be up to 50% off!  Should Mr AC peer over the top of his specs when I come home laden with seed packets, I smile sweetly and remind him of the discount - and no p+p!  8)

Last year, one of the garden centres not too far away were selling off T&M seeds (now, they are not stocking them) so I bought marigolds and things for 50% off - none of them have germinated.

Marshalls have just sent out an autumn/winter book with things that you can plant now for late in the year.  Grow your spuds for Christmas day, peas to pick in September/October and spring cabbages to start the new year off with an iron and vitamin filled bang!  ;D

The spuds, Emma ?- from September on.

And next year's things? What was wrong with this year's - or last year's?
Find something that works & stick with it. "New, new, new" is not always better, better! = Tim

Hi Multiveg - provided the seeds were in date, I'd exercise your consumer rights and give T&M a blast!  The seeds I got in the sale were best before 2005 and all have done well, although only the Broad Beans were T&M.

However, at the risk of being controversial, I do find that T&M seeds never do as well for me as Mr Fothergills or Suttons despite receiving the same care.   Any others have seed merchant preferences?

I can't wait. I've already gone through this year's catalogues and work out for all the seeds I want to get which is the best value for money. I know this was a pointless exercise as the new ones will be different, but I was bored and couldn't do any gardening (this was when I was laid up with the sprained ankle!) I'll have to do the same again when the new ones come out!

AC - I don't much like T&M because they are not only really expensive, but they also charge postage.

My local Wyevale are already having their 50% off seed sale, picked up some carrots and some pansies for half price  - sow by 2006 ;D  ;D
Someone said a couple of weeks ago that Wilkos seeds are half price already too, if there is anything left by now.

I got a lot at Wilkos 8 days ago. They had long use-by dates.  Aren't Wyevale the robin killers?

It was in all the newspapers about 8 weeks ago.  Wyevale had a guy in to SHOOT the baby robins cos the nest was near the restaurant.  Worse still, they were only days away from leaving the nest.  I'm sure others will tell you the story in more detail.
