Title: Please help raised flower beds
Post by: caseylee on February 12, 2008, 11:47:04
Hello there
My allotment has beautiful soil, but I would like some raised beds  cause they make it look better and easier to maintain.  I would love some ideas on how I can accomplish this on a very tight budget. Any ideas appriciated.
Thank you
Linda

Cheapest wood is broken up pallets but that can be a work of art... keep your eye out for people skipping likely timber... how high do you want the beds raising? and what would be a lot of money? Old Factory floor boards from recycling firms can be good...

These are my DIY frames but when the lights are broken they will probably be filled as raised beds...

My friend made me some from old shelves I had in my shed but i had only enough to do my greenhouse, I never though of using pallets aswell.  I would like to make the raised beds from all recycleable things, that poss are free

If you can track them down those factory boards are great... each frame is only two boards... thay are long enough to do all the way round and about a foot to 16" deep... so two depths give a good bed..
