Title: Mustard and Cress
Post by: pg on February 11, 2008, 18:30:47
I've just rediscovered the simple and tasty pleasures of mustard and cress and so plan to fill my windowsill with these easy to grow sarnie fillings.

You can buy small seed packets of 'mustard' and 'cress' for lots of money, but I've spotted large packets of 'agricultural white mustard' (for gren manuring) that would work out cheaper. A bit of basic Googling makes me think the mustard part in the mustard&cress is white mustard - but can agricultural white mustard be used instead?

Any thoughts on large quantities/substitutes for the cress?

pg, Moles Seeds have pack of Mustard, White - 250 grams for £1.90.  They also do a very good range of 'sprouting' seeds.  www.molesseeds.co.uk should point you in the right direction.

PS  Thanks very much for your help with the Simac.

Good looking supplier, I hadn't come across them before - thanks.

As for the Simac pastamachine - no problem.

Carters do a good big seed packet of cress (curly and tasty) which you can get from Instore/Poundstretcher if you are lucky.  I am always disappointed at the size and price of cress packets elsewhere.
