Title: Onion sets left out overnight - problem?
Post by: shaolin101 on February 11, 2008, 09:45:38
Hi all,

A kind allotment holder left me some onion sets (first time i have ever seen them!). They were in a bag on my allotment so would have been out over night for a few days as i couldn't get there. As teh temperature has been going from quite warm to freezing is this likely to have an effect?

Should i bring them in and warm them up, or should i plant them now?

Thanks
Liam

They should be OK, a lot of people start planting out onion sets in Mid â€" late March. I wouldn’t plant them for a few weeks as they will just sit in the ground and could get water logged and rot, just keep them in your shed.

Or start them in cells, so they can start making roots for when you plant them proper...
