Title: Shallots

My neighbour was planting shallots today but i thought it was a bit too early yet as the soil isn't warm enough yet...am i wrong?

Some people sow them on 21st Dec... I'm putting mine in tomorrow if the ground isn't frozen. Seeds need it a bit warmer...

Probably putting mine in tommorow - had some plastic sheeting down for a week to warm up soil

My neighbour told me the other day that he always plants at the end of Feb, but others I know plant a lot earlier. I've given up on them, they always seem to fade away. Walkng onions are doing better though.

Planted shallots in modules in the GH on 22/12/07. They are growing well and will be hardened off before planting into garden. I have done this for a number of years now. At least I do not have any gaps in the row where a bulb has failed to grow.
