My lovely neighbour has just started a volunteer job gardening at an HIV/AIDS respite centre. She's been asked to get a veg patch going but is very limited by lack of funding. The garden is to supply the kitchen with fresh veg.
Basically, I was wondering if anyone had any seeds spare that they'd be willing to donate to this project. Anything at all would be much appreciated and would certainly be put to good use. I've given her all I can but it's nowhere near enough to stock the size of patch she's anticipating managing.
If anyone out there is kind enough to donate anything, please drop me a PM!
Many thanks for taking the time to read this post.
Erika
It sounds like a great project ericaz,It may be worth approaching your local shops and garden centres.Good luck. ;D
What a brilliant idea! Thanks for that, I'll let her know and certainly have a bit of an ask around myself.
What does she need? I have far too much of everything!
Anything at all would be appreciated. She's starting from scratch and is even having to find tools etc. to get started. Seems such a shame considering how worth-while this project is.
Hi Erikaz,
I know exactly how hard it is for your friend. We started a co operative last year and funded it all between us, our co ordinator putting most in. It was difficult though very rewarding, we are heading into our second season now.
She might be able to apply for funding for the project as it is for a good cause.
I will see what seeds we have spare at the end of next week.
You can read a little about us on the link at the bottom of my post......wishing her good luck ;)
Hello,
I have salad, chives, tomato seeds (may be something else I have to look in my seed box) which I'll be only happy to send to you,
can you please send me your address.
Regards,
Natasha
If you contact Thompson and Morgan and Franchi seeds they will probably both donate seeds to this cause, you need to apply in writing. They are very generous for such as this XX Jeannine
Thanks to natasha for her kind offer - I've sent you my address
Star - Thanks for your response. I've had look at your website, all looks very interesting. I'll certainly suggest the option of applying for funding, it's a very worthwhile project and has real potential to make a difference to peoples lives. I certainly feel better in myself when eating fresh veg!
Jeannine - I'll pass your suggestion on to her. Seems like a great idea and certaily worth a try.
Thanks to you all for being so helpful! You've all been so wonderful
Can I suggest *Freecycle* for wanted tools or ask for any donations of seeds for your cause. :)
Where abouts in the country is it?
Would definitely be worth joining freecycle and asking for tools etc on there. I've had a few tools off Solihull freecycle.

We're in North Wales. I'm a member of the local freecycle networks and they're about to get an email about tools and any other useful donations!
You have all been so kind! My neighbour sends her thanks and says she's so grateful to you all!
I can help !
PM me if you still need more seed!

A big thank you to all who've posted seeds so far! Mr Postman's just made his first delivery this morning and my neighbour is thrilled! We'll get planting anything that needs to be in the next few days. It's all so exciting that this project now seems to be getting off the ground - all thanks to your kind donations.
