Title: Novice asking question

Hi as you can see in the title i am a novice first year growing, and i would like to know what type of potatoes are best for jacket potatoes and is there anything special i have to do to get them BIG. 
Plus i have some endive seeds that were given to me and the packet is in italian ( i think ) the picture looks like the frissee type and i wanted to know will i have to blanche them and when should i.
I have alot of qusetions sorry if all are answers i should know.

hiya, vicstar, welcome to the site..we grow desiree and kestrel, both are not liked by slugs and taste wonderful, in my opinion anyway
don't know about endive, grew it once, didn't blanch it very well  :-X  ;D

I grow endive and Chicory but eat them unblanched, I have weird tastes! Many can be blanched by tying up the leaves for about a week then just eating the heart, best done in dry weather or they may go mouldy!

You can also blanch endive by putting an upturned large terracotta flowerpot over it with the drain hole blocked in so no light gets througn. I usually grwo endive as a autumn/early winter crop though.
