I need help I'm not sure what I'm doing but I'm having no success with seedlings , i have tried several verities from seed of chillies & tomatoes they come up to about 1" then after a few days / week they curl over and die, they are kept indoors, and watered with a mister every day but not kept wet , I'm hoping some kind soul will point me in the right direction. :'(
i think it may be the misting. you shouldnt need to mist them at all. the compost should be damp but youshouldnt realy ned to even water that often. if the compost is drying out too quickly then i would suggest they may be too hot. a steady warm airy light space like a window sill is fine as long as its not too cold at night. ;)

Yes Sounds like 'damping off' caused by too much moisture, it's not really warm enough for too much watering.

I just read recently that watering with water from used camomile teabags stops damping off disease.
Even bottom watering. A couple people agreed it works for them. I've lost things trying to grow in a cool basement with grow lights. Has anyone tried camomile tea watering?
I thought the camomile concoction that I have read about in the past was used as a good fertiliser?
my OH is responsible for the seedlings until its time for pricking out i dont get involved as mine never seem to work but he swears by watering from the bottom and ive never seen him misting anything!

I have used clove tea and have dusted the surface of the compost with cinnamon in the past - but never really had much of a problem with damping off in the first place.
I've always watered from the bottom, never misted, never had damping off 8)
Please tell me about cinamon & clove tea? (and how you make clove tea, should it be Good Stuff to use...infuse some cloves in hot water?)
