Title: Dwarf Beans in Pots
Post by: Barnowl on January 25, 2008, 17:05:32
Has anyone grown dwarf beans in pots?

Reason for asking is that sadly one of my relatives has a concrete garden (the sea regularly waters it in the winter).

Hestia is a good dwarf runner bean that does well in pots,,but.. we have a huge pot that we fix an tall obelisk in and grow tall beans it, they grow well and it looks lovely. We plant them very early then put the pot out by day and bring it in the greenhouse at night, so we get a few crops of very early beans.

Hestia is a good dwarf runner bean that dies well in pots,,

Your Freudian slip is showing Jeannine!

Opera also does well for us, grown as  Jeannine says. It's very quick to mature but not the finest tasting

as long as the tub, pot - maybe even a window box would be better - is big enough you can probably grow anything in it  ;D

We tend to grow climbing french beans in large pots, with a wigwam of canes.  Admittedly, we do keep some in the greenhouse for early crops, but they do make an architectural feature outdoors.
