Title: Little Brothers Savory Pie
Post by: cambourne7 on January 24, 2008, 16:39:22
Hi Guys,

This is a wonderful pie which was the invention of my younger brother when he first cooked a family 'surprise' dinner so i hope you love it as much as we did.

Cambourne7

Ingrediants

1 pack sausages
1 pack bacon (unsmoked rindless)
1 onion (large)
1-2 Tin Baked Beans (depends on number of people)
4-6 tomatoes (depends on number of people)
1 packet of puff pastry

Method

Line a good sided oven dish with pastry, roll a pie top out but dont add this yet.

Fry the cubed sausage and cubed bacon and when cooked put this on a plate with some kitchen roll to absorbe some of the fat. In the fat still in the pan fry the onion and just before there cooked add the qtr tomatos then add the bacon and sausage back in. Then a tin of baked beans if this is 2 dry add either more tomatos and or more baked beans so you get a nice pie filling.

When cooled add the filling into the pastry and then add the top, use a little milk around the edge to seal the pastry and poke a small couple of holes in the top to allow steam to vent then cook at 180 for about 25 - 35 min till golden brown.

Serve with either chips or chunks of crusty bread :)

Goodness - that sounds fab! would so love to make it but when you live alone, as I do, I'd just be forced to eat large portions or be eating it for several days (suppose you could freeze unused portions for another time? :)

I don't bake very often now for same reason - can't control the weight properly if I keep baking and eating  :'( same applies to nice things like this pie :(

Could try it out next time my friend comes over tho - she'd love it & want 'seconds'

Yes Cambourne - that's what I mean't - isn't that where people put things to find under specific headings i.e. 'main meals' or maybe it's sufficient for it to be here in this recipe topic :-\

maybe I've got confused as why the recipes 4all site is there :-[
