i have had kale growing in the garden since last year it looks good will it be ok to eat? i didnt expect it to last that well
I doubt it's going to kill you so you should be safe finding out.
suppose i could try it out on hubby first :o
I don't know what you mean by last year, but my late spring/early summer-sown kale gives me several cuts in the autumn, and then a couple more in late winter/early spring. It's very hardy! And very delicious...
i cant remember exactly when i planted it either late sumer or early autumn i guess by the fact t still looks s good and bountiful its telling me to eat it
Last winter we ate our curly kale right through until late March when it started to go to seed.
If its growing you can eat it.
lovely il be doing this very soon lol ;D
Odd that a veg some of us grew when it was considered `pig food` is now trendy?

Kale has been a staple in Ireland for a very long time. I had never eaten it before moving here (never even saw it in the UK so go figure).
Personally I think kale has a much better flavour and texture than cabbage and is a hugely underrated vegetable...
;D my favourite veg, I grow Afro or Pentland Brigg, been picking it since last Sept
Yes i love Kale, growing the purple one for the first time this year.
The Irish sunday roast is still my fav, boiled ham colcannon and carrots with a onion sauce YUM YUM
The flavours of home.

whats colcannon cam ???
I do not know the real recipe, but I use savoy cabbage, mashed spuds and onion all mashed together. I have never used kale in it, but it does sound better than savoy. I will use it next time as I grow curly kale in the flower beds as it looks good.
(Posh bubble and sqeak really)

yes :)
If you ever make Colcannon, two things to note:
1) Use white pepper, not black when seasoning.
2) Please, please, please cook the onion soft. There is nothing worse than crunchy onion in Colcannon...
ok Rob ut why white not black pepper is it an aesthetic thing?

Firstly it is the correct pepper to use (tradition and all that) and secondly, yes, it is also an aesthetic thing...
